The science of personality by others, the science of myself by me.

"The act of writing down our deepest thoughts and feelings is the key to the benefits of writing." -Laura King

...and I'm in awe. Probably the bets quotation I have found in some months, last ones being from the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. If you have nothing better to do with your life at a certain moment, do read about personality psychology. It's therapeutic even reading about and adjoining the experiments with your own life, identifying with the patients, creating an aura of self-assurance made from the thoughts consisting: "I'm not that messed-up after all."

I found it fairly odd that I decided to start writing down my thoughts, even the deepest ones of them, without knowing that there's been research on the matter. The research was conducted by using college-aged people who had to write about e.g. their best possible future self, traumatic experiences and moods. I'm doing this right now, I've been doing this for the past few months and not only have I seen the benefits of this in my writing but also in my life. The experiment concluded that people were the happiest after writing about their positive future and the saddest after writing about a traumatic experience. Okay, insert the pipe into your mouth, Holmes. But regardless of how self-explanatory that is, you don't realize this until you've written about the aforementioned things. You need to experience it firsthand.

.can we come in?.
